The Instigator – John Kirk

John KirkJohn Kirk works in the Corporate Development Centre at Birmimgham City University. He is interested in discussion of live issues which affect professionals working in Birmingham. He is also interested in new media and the impact that it can have on the relationship that the University has with the City of Birmingham and the different communities which live and work within it.

The Project Manager – Oliver Carter

Oliver Carter Oliver Carter is a lecturer, author and researcher at the Department of Media and Communication in Birmingham City University. He is particularly interested in the uses of New Media and its consumption. In addition to maintaing the B1G Idea website he also the webmaster of the Radio for Development website and maintains his own blog on New Media and Popular Culture.

The Host – Sarah Gee

Sarah GeeSarah Gee is Managing Consultant of DixonRaines Ltd., the UK’s premier arts marketing and development income generation consultancy, with clients including Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, Arts Council England, Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Arnolfini and mac.

Sarah has worked in a variety of roles in the music business, including over seven years as Director of Communications for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra where she lead the organisation through a successful rebranding process and devised diversity, marketing, fundraising and communications strategies for the company.

An erstwhile hornplayer, Sarah is a regular trainer and speaker on marketing, branding and fundraising matters in the UK and overseas. She is a founding Director of Birmingham Professional Diversity, a trustee of Gigbeth, and in 2006-2007 served as Chairman of Birmingham Future. In 2004 Sarah was elected as a fellow of the British American Project, an initiative designed to establish stronger trans-Atlantic relationships across both public and private sectors.

In her spare time, Sarah makes jewellery, enjoys walking and travelling, and loves cooking for friends with her husband Baz.

Producer of episodes one and three – Phil Griffin

Phill Griffin is a Freelance Radio Producer and manager of a community orientated radio station in Wolverhampton.

Since graduating from Birmingham City University with a First Class Degree in Radio Production, Phill has been employed to work within the marketing and production departments of some of the most successful commercial radio stations in the West Midlands. He produced the Ugly Phil Network Breakfast show on Kerrang! and now works as a sports and podcast producer for the BRMB/Capital Gold ‘Golazone’ programme.

Producer of episode two – Antonio Gould

Antonio is a digital media consultant and producer working with primarily with socially focussed and educational organisations. As well as producing podcasts, he also delivers web strategies which primarily use live web approaches like blogging, online TV, social networking platforms, wikis and anything else which allows people to connect, communicate and collaborate. Producer of episode four – Sam Coley

Sam Coley has worked extensively in both the New Zealand and British radio industries, specializing in Commercial Production and Documentary making. Before taking up his current position at Birmingham City University, Sam was Creative Director for the Northern Branch of New Zealand’s Radio Network, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest radio commercial production department. He has been a regular guest lecturer on the subject of radio production and in his spare time runs an online radio station, which promotes unsigned musicians.
